Maryland Chapter

THE RETIRED ENLISTED ASSOCIATION (TREA) Chapter 9 was founded in 1963 by two men retired from the Air Force – Master Sergeant George Skonce and Master Sergeant Dean Sorell. These two dedicated retirees realize that they and their fellow enlisted retirees had no voice in the corridors of power to stand up for their hard-earned rights and promised benefits. The men and women of TREA are from all branches of the United States Military, ARMY, NAVY, AIRFORCE, MARINES, and COASTGUARD who have retired.

In 1967 the Baltimore Maryland Chapter 9 was founder by George Norman Andrews, along with Co-Founders Thomas Daniel Washington, Harold T. Washington, Harold Patterson and William Parker. The men began holding monthly meetings at the home of their first elected President George Andrews. In 1968 Chapter 9 began hosting Family Barbeques, Dinners, and military dances for military retirees and their dependents. On June 26, 1969 was proclaimed Organization Day by Mayor Delesandrao for TREA Chapter 9.
