Vietnam War Memorial
Dedicated May 28, 1989
The Vietnam Memorial is a ring of stone with a granite wall with 1046 names inscribed of those who lost their lives in Vietnam. The names of those 35 men who remain missing are also inscribed on the stone. The Memorial features two 45-foot flag poles flying the United States flag and our Maryland State flag with the POW-MIA flag flying under it. Immediately outside the Memorial ring are 16 "spires" which represent the Vietnam years from 1959 to 1975. The three and one-half acre Memorial site is enhanced further by groves of trees and greenery.
Vietnam Veterans and their families can take special pride in the knowledge that this Memorial, conceived by few, and erected by many, will stand as a humble and simple tribute to all who served their country, their State and their fellow citizens with honor. The Citizens of Maryland are grateful for those who served.
The memorial is located at Middle Branch Park, 2825 South Hanover Street, Baltimore, MD 21225.
